Volunteer Free Churches Chaplain Vacancy, HMP Winchester (External)

HMP Winchester is looking to appoint a Volunteer Chaplain to join the chaplaincy team. HMP Winchester is a large and complex local prison with a diverse and multi-disciplinary team of which the chaplaincy team is a crucial part. The successful candidate will join the multi-faith chaplaincy team under the leadership of Revd Marina Brain the Managing Chaplain to assist in providing high quality pastoral and faith specific care to those who work and reside in the prison.

The role will involve working on one Sunday morning each month, both leading and assisting in leading Sunday services. There will also be an expected commitment to two further sessions (either morning or afternoon) each week. Whilst experience of prison chaplaincy is not expected and role-specific training is available from the Prison Service, experience of working as a minister in an institutional context would be highly advantageous.

In order to be eligible for this post the Chaplain must be a minister (lay or ordained) of an appropriate Free Churches denomination and be endorsed by the Free Churches Faith Advisor to NOMS. A full list of eligible denominations and the appropriate criteria for ministers who wish to be endorsed can be found here.

If you are interested in this role, then please send an email containing a letter stating why you think that you would be a good candidate for this post with an accompanying CV to the Managing Chaplain at marina.brain@hmps.gsi.gov.uk
